On A Roll

« | »

Recently I picked up a bunch of interchangeable needle tips.  I use the KnitPicks/KnitPro needles which are very affordable, and I like that they come in a starter kit, but can be picked up a pair at a time too, and I was filling out my original set.  Those and my double-points are my defaults, and would rather use a circular than long straights, as they store up nice in my bag.

My pouch was getting unwieldy, with all the paper packages and cards for each set of needles so I whipped up this roll which holds everything pretty neatly.  It would have been nicer in thick, fray-proof felt, but it was not to be found and I just *had* to get the roll done right away to allay my obsessive organizational tendencies (mostly only related to crafting, and just the craft at hand).  Instead I used a wool suit/coat material, very thick and cushy.

It is a very simple construction – the pockets were sized depending on how many needles I have.  Each slot is labled with an embroidered tally mark, so I know what size goes where.  There’s a little pocket to hold my cables and needle sizer, and I’ll probably add one for the plastic caps too.  It’s so nice seeing at a glance what is ready to use.

Wouldn’t it be cute to make one with stripes, and a dark green outside to look like a sushi roll?  Ideas…

ps. For anyone, or someone, who thinks I have too many needles…  check this post from yesterday by the Yarn Harlot.  And she has a room for yarn.  Ahem.
